Table Size & Seating Tips

Tip 1: Know Your Seating Capacity

A great place to start is deciding how many people you want to seat. Chair widths vary, but here’s a good rule of thumb:

Rectangular Tables

  • 6’–7’ → seats 6 loved ones

  • 8’–9’ → seats 8 loved ones

  • 10’ → seats 10 loved ones
Need bigger? We can build it!

Round Tables

  • 48” → seats 4 loved ones

  • 54” → seats 5–6 loved ones

  • 60” → seats 6–7 loved ones

Square Tables

  • 48” → seats 4 loved ones

  • 54” → seats 4–8 loved ones

  • 60” → seats 8 loved ones

  • 66” → seats 8–10 loved ones

Tip 2: The Painter’s Tape (or Bedsheet) Trick

  • Use painter’s tape to outline your desired table size right on the floor.

  • Or, lay down a bedsheet to mimic the table footprint.

  • Measure what you’ve laid out — and if that number happens to be 6.75’, no problem. We’ll build it to fit!

Tip 3: Follow the Spacing Rule

You’ll want at least 3 feet of clearance on all sides of the table. This allows chairs to be pushed back comfortably and lets people walk behind them.

Need to fit more people? Consider using a bench on one or both sides. Benches allow more seating and can be tucked neatly under the table when not in use.
