What to Expect with Handcrafted Furniture
At Dreamwood Designs, every piece is handcrafted from solid wood and finished by hand in our Arlington, TX workshop. We embrace the beauty of natural materials and the charm of human craftsmanship — no two pieces will ever be exactly alike.
By placing an order with us, you agree to these standards and understand that natural variations and handmade characteristics are part of what makes your furniture unique.
Natural Variations

Wood Grain & Color – Every board has a unique grain and absorbs stain differently. Colors may vary slightly from photos or samples, even when the same stain is used.

Distressing & Finish – Distressing is done by hand and will vary from piece to piece. Brush strokes, open knots, texture, and other small imperfections are normal and not considered defects.

Measurement Tolerance – Sizes may vary up to 1" due to the custom, handmade nature of our work.
Stain Matching
We do not match stain colors from photos. Custom stains can be used if you provide the exact stain product and specify the wood species. Results will still vary due to natural grain differences.
Surface Texture

Fine Sanding vs. Distressing – The smoother the surface, the lighter the stain may appear; the more distressed the surface, the darker the stain may appear.

Band Sawn Oak – Will have natural wave marks and texture; some areas may be sanded smoother to remove deep ridges. This is normal and part of its character.
Solid Wood Movement
Solid wood naturally expands and contracts with humidity and temperature changes. Gaps between boards in traditional tops are normal and can be cleaned easily. For a seamless look, choose our jointed top option — gaps are eliminated, but knots remain.
Lead Times
Our quoted lead times (typically 4–10 weeks) are estimates, not guarantees. We will always prioritize quality over speed. Special event deadlines will be accommodated, when possible, but we cannot promise specific delivery dates.

If you are looking for perfectly uniform, machine-made furniture, our handcrafted pieces may not be for you. If you value character, authenticity, and one-of-a-kind beauty, you’ll love what we create.
